Where does the tariff war stands with China ? After several rounds of trade talks in London, Geneva, Stockholm, and Madrid (they will soon have visited all the European capitals) Scott Bessent and Chinese vice Prime Minister He Lifeng have only just managed to agree several times to postpone the implementation date of the new tariffs. TACO, remember ?
Let’s not be unfair: an agreement was still reached to parachute an American into the role of head of the American part of the TikTok network; but since it will still be a global network, I’m not really sure technically how useful the guy will be. Diffusing MAGA ideology or the chinese communist party soup, it’s not very different for the users. It’s always enslaving consumers/people, isn’t it ?
The sensitive industrial sectors are rare earths (where the government is pumping funds), semiconductors, and medicines, on which the Chinese remain as uncompromising as ever.
But what about agriculture ? Soybean harvest is now and because of the war for Tik tok, China still retaliates : China has stopped all its imports of beans from United States. It buys the soybean it needs to South America. Including Brazil whose taxes has been rise by Donald. It’s a catastrophy for many farmers in the Middle west, you know the square states in the center of the maps, which have voted MAGA.
One thing is certain : the administration doesn’t handle at all the situation. Neither sector by sector, nor the dates or delays, nor the tariff’s level. And we know nothing about the counterparts China has demanded for the Tik Tok accord (some clauses are covered by the secret of commerce). In one word : this trade war with China is a MESS till the beginning, and soon it will be a complete defeat for US, meaning United States.
But if I know one thing for sure, it’s that Donald will lie to us again to tell us that he has made the most wonderful and the most profitable deal of all time.
