The kidnapping of Nicolás Maduro is doubly illegal.
Illegal under international law because the US are the aggressor and are intervening without any mandate, from U N for example. Illegal under US law because Congress has never granted the president any authority to attack speedboats in the Caribbean Sea or launch missiles at the port and airport of Caracas.
We are facing one of Donald Trump’s many abuses of power. When it’s to put his name on the facade of the John F. Kennedy Center, we don’t really care (but we’re wrong!). When it’s to bomb and kill people, or even send our boys into ground combat, it’s serious business.
