Updating Trump’s criminal record

Elizabeth Jean Carroll, 81, was a journalist and columnist for the American edition of Elle magazine. In 2019, she accused Donald Trump of raping her in 1996 in a fitting room at a New York department store. She had Donald Trump found responsible for sexual assault against her that day. The tycoon was then ordered to pay her $5 million.

During this civil trial, Trump’s insulting and contemptuous behavior toward E. Jean Caroll, particularly on her Truth network, led to a second civil defamation case. In January 2024, the plaintiff won the first instance. The amount of the settlement: $65 millions. She just won the second instance (September 2025). Note, by the way, that this is much less than what Trump is seeking from Murdoch ($ 10 billions) for an allegedly defamatory cartoon.

The interesting idea is that the presidential immunity, graciously granted to Trump by the Supreme Doormat, was not upheld by the secund level court : the case is a private matter. This leaves hope for legal  future actions.
