The President of the U S is a partisan. He didn’t call to national unity after the political assassination of Charlie Kirk. He didn’t try to lower temperature in the minds. His damned soul, Laura Loomer, known as a far-right political activist and conspiracy theorist, whispered to him the names of the journalists who did not speak of Kirk as a saint and martyr in order to fire them on the spot.
The complete opposite of Utah governor Spencer Cox, a Republican however, who said that « our nation is broken » and pleaded that “all of us will try to find a way to stop hating our fellow Americans”.
The figures (see above) don’t lie (source : https://www.adl.org) and they prove Loomer and Trump’s arguments wrong : over the last decade right wing extremists are responsible of two extremist related murders upon three. Left wing extremism are responsible of 4% of extremist related murders.
With the decline of the United States’ position in the world, but also with the subprime mortgages crisis, the post-COVID-19 economic crisis, all the crises of the last thirty years, which have impoverished many ordinary white males, culminating in Donald Trump’s rise to power in 2017, they have created a sense of political frustration and a polarization of society.
Before 2001, the situation was so simple : the United States was the country where everyone thought of only one thing: HOW TO MAKE (more) MONEY ! But this time is over. Americans have been disabused by so many crises and populist politicians. They are now seeking how to restore their Golden Age.
In these cases, when you are an irresponsible leader (no name, but I’m thinking of someone very strongly) you say to yourself : « What do the people of this country need ? I’ve got a so much brilliant idea : a good war, of course. A war ! A perillous war… I’m a genius ! But a war against some other country, not a civil war… With China which is challenging me, or the so-called Venezuela‘s cartels (it would be too easy ? Poutine will laugh at me !). This is the ONLY way to bring everyone together again and the Disunited States would become again the Great United States of America« .
