$3,5 billions… European Union regulators hit Google with a 2.95 billion euro ($3.5 billion) fine for breaching the bloc’s competition rules by favoring its own digital advertising services. Google was also condemned a few days before by a court in California for the same reason (with some different arguments).
Donald Trump is pissed off. The announcement was made just after the dinner with tech bros, where Mr President ask them how much they planned to invest in the american economy. This fine of 3,5 billions represents hundreds of good jobs that will never be created by Google in the United States’ economy.
The lesson : it’s really hard to be the biggest and the richest without cheating from time to time. Or even all the time. The crime is not to cheat but to be caught cheating.
