Another humiliating setback for the Trump administration !
The federal judge Edward Chen of San Francisco blocked the Trump administration from ending temporary legal protections that have granted more than 1.1 million people from Haiti and Venezuela the right to live and work in the United States.
This is concerning 600,000 Venezuelans whose temporary protections expired in April or whose protections were about to expire Sept. 10. They have status to stay and work in the United States. It also keeps protections for about 500,000 Haitians.
Kristi Noem head of the Homeland Security Secretary had revoked protections for Venezuelans and Haitians through « arbitrary and capricious actions »said the judge and she exceeded her authority in ending protections that were extended by the Biden administration.

Update ; On Oktober 3rd the Supreme Court allowed Donald Trump’s administration to strip legal protections from more than 300,000 Venezuelan migrants. Their status had been granted by the Biden administration. This putting on hold the lower-court ruling by U.S. District Judge Edward Chen in San Francisco that found the administration had wrongly ended temporary protected status for the Venezuelans.
