The Justice Department, which released the documents piecemeal, most of them heavily redacted, is dishonest. Its maneuvers suggest an undetermined number of documents remaining in its hands. When will Trump and Bondi understand that hiding these documents is pointless? They will surface sooner or later and their reputations because of their omerta are already ruined.
According to the Department of Justice, the redaction of the documents is intended to protect victims (unfortunately, some have had their photos published), to preserve ongoing investigations (but the FBI has announced there will be no new prosecutions) or to protect the confidentiality of communications between lawyers and clients. Everyone has understood from the beginning that this redaction is political and has nothing to do with the exemptions provided by law.
The Department initially estimated the number of documents at 6 million. It released 3 million. And now it tells us there won’t be any more. The question is: where did the other half of 3 million go?
