After New York. Better than New York, because Miami had been a Republican stronghold for a quarter of a century. Eileen Higgins won the mayoral election in this major Florida city on Tuesday, December 9th. The capital of the Sunshine State has flipped. The state itself had overwhelmingly voted for Donald Trump in the last three presidential elections.
Eileen Higgins won 60% of the vote against Republican candidate Emilio T. Gonzalez, who was backed by Donald Trump. By politicizing local elections from Washington and putting Trump’s name alongside those of local candidates, the red party is overwhelming and sinking these candidates.
Locally Donald Trump is no more a trump, he’s a millstone. Keep it up, guys. And it’s not just two or three municipalities that will turn blue. Soon, the whole country will. Until democracy is restored in this country!
