The obsession of Donald and his friends is the exact opposite imprint of the M.A.G.A slogan. Their obsession is the decline of the American empire, confronted with China. For too long, Americans have been talking hot air (deindustrialization and development of the tertiary sector, marketing, advertising, talk, talk, talk… hot air, huh !) rather than producing goods, planes, cars, chips, products of mass consumption for today’s world. For too long, American people have believed that all they have to do is fidget and jump on their chairs, and things will be the way they want them to be. United states’ economy is in competition on everything and loosing markets shares on many things (Great Wall vs Ford, Airbus vs Boeing, TSMC vs Nvidia, etc).
The stupidity of the political elite only precipitates the movement. The economy of America is already a big cadaver. And it’ll be pushing up the daisies soon. For many different reasons : American today’s elite deny global warming and the species extinction, they don’t see the threat of Poutine’s dictatorship on Europe, they are accomplice of Israeli’s genocide in Gaza, their economy will need more labor force soon, but they are deporting all migrants, inflation will rocket to the sky and only the richs will survive, they want to dismantle the state instead of searching for compromise to get out of the shutdown, etc.
Actually it’s Thanatos, the greek god of Death, who is driving Donald and the trumpetists today. Americans are collectively agitated by a death instinct. And the more they will repeat M.A.G.A as a mantra, the more they are going to die an horrible and slow death.
